1-8-bush

Trigg County Lady Wildcat Coach Cory Coble continues to see progress with his team following their 49-32 loss to Calloway County Monday at Wildcat Gym.

The Lady Wildcats were able to capitalize some on an off shooting night by the Lady Lakers, who shot just 30-percent from the field and hit 2-of-20 from behind the arc.

However, Calloway kept the Lady Wildcats at bay by using their defense for force 27 turnovers.

Calloway County (12-5) used a 12-0 second quarter run to take a 25-8 lead in the second quarter. Trigg scored the final five points of the half to trail 25-13 at intermission.

Trigg scored the first bucket of the second half but never got the deficit into single digits, with Calloway leading by as many as 21 in the fourth quarter.

Lauren Oliver had 17 points and 16 rebounds for the Lady Wildcats, with Katelyn Slone scoring six and Adri Phillips adding four points.

Calloway County sophomore Charlee Settle matched her season average with 24 points and added 13 rebounds. Elle Carson and Keeli Puckett both scored eight points.

The loss was Trigg County’s eighth straight against Calloway County, with their last win over the Lady Lakers coming in 1985.

Trigg County (6-9) returns to action Thursday at home against Crittenden County.
