Two Christian County Colonels have been named to the preseason All-State Baseball Team by the Kentucky High School Baseball Coaches Association.
Juniors Lane Diuguid and Wyatt Stevenson were two of five players from the Second Region named to the list.
Stevenson, who has committed to Louisville, hit .439 last year as a sophomore with three HRs and 23 RBIs. He also was 3-4 on the mound with a 2.53 ERA. He struck out 49 batters in 38 innings and only issues 15 walks.
Diuguid, who has committed to Western Kentucky, was 3-2 on the mound last year. The hard-throwing lefty had a 3.23 ERA with 47 strikeouts in 34 innings.
Other Second Region players named to the list were Union County’s Trey Hutchison, Jonathan Hogart of Madisonville, and Clayton Buchanan of Webster County.
Notable omissions on the list include University Heights Academy junior Drew McGowan, who has committed to Mississippi State; Caldwell County’s Shane Burns, who was named All-State last year and signed with Murray State; and Nolan Melton (Olney Central) and Jake Willoughby (Kentucky Wesleyan), both from Henderson County.
