The annual KHSAA ‘Dead Period’ begins today (June 25) and will continue through Tuesday, July 9. The two-week period is a chance for athletes and coaches to step away from most sports and recharge their batteries before the start of practice for fall sports next month.

During the 15-day Dead Period moratorium, athletes can not use school facilities, team equipment, transportation, or school uniforms. Coaches cannot communicate with their players via social media, email, or phone.

Coaches cannot use non-school facilities to promote alternative activities with athletes and no fundraisers or postseason awards banquets can be held.

The same Dead Period applies to middle school athletics as well.
