LaFamilia, a University of Kentucky alumni team, seems loaded with talent starting with star Eric Bledsoe. However, the UK team is only the second seed in the Lexington Region of  The Basketball Tournament (TBT) – the $1 million, winner-take-all summer basketball event.

The top seed in the Lexington Region is Herd That, a Marshall alumni team, with WoCo Showtime, former Wofford players, at No. 3 behind Marshall and UK.

The rest of the Lexington region:

#4 seed War Ready (Auburn Alumni)

#5 seed D2 Waymakers

#6 seed The Nawf

#7 seed 305 Ballers

#8 seed Jackson TN Boom

Kentucky’s roster includes Kellan Grady (2021-22), Nate Sestina (2019-20). Reid Travis (2018-19), Andrew Harrison (2013-15), James Young (2013-14), Willie Cauley-Stein (2012-15), Marquis Teague (2011-12), Doron Lamb (2010-12), Daniel Orton (2009-10) and Bledsoe (2009-10).

Additional players could be added and apparently one might come from the 38-1 team that lost in the 2015 Final Four to Wisconsin.

The 2016 SEC Player of the Year and former NBA player Tyler Ulis will be the team’s head coach and assistants are  Darius Miller, Jon Hood, and Sean Woods .  The team is organized by former UK players Twany Beckham and Sam Malone.

LaFamilia will play 305 Ballers on  July 19, at 8 p.m. on FS2. If it wins it will play the winner of WoCo Showtime and The Nawf on  July 21 at 2 p.m. on FOX.

The Lexington Regional championship game is July 23 at 9 p.m. on FS1 and the Lexington Region winner will play the Louisville Region winner in the next round on either July 29 or 30. The semifinals and final for the $1 million prize will be Aug. 2 and 4 in Philadelphia.

Club Blue, the official NIL partner of Kentucky Athletics, has partnered with TBT and a portion of ticket sales for all games at Rupp Arena will go to Club Blue to support Kentucky student-athletes.
