Finding a great spot to dine out in St. Augustine is so easy because it seems like every place we have tried in five trips here have all been good.

However, if you visit St. Augustine and want to try something a little different, let me suggest Outer Banks Boil Company,

You can pick your “pots to-go” and then help create your own seafood boil when you get back to where you are staying. We did that this week by combining two classic (red potatoes, ear of corn, andouille sausage, onions and jumbo shrimp) and two crab pots (which include one cluster of snow crab in each order).

Now I’ll admit I was a little worried about how we would do steaming and finishing the pot when we got back to our condo but we were given specific verbal instructions when we picked up our big pot — which is yours to keep — along with written instructions to take with us.

My 15-year-old grandson and my son did the majority of the preparation — with some advice/assists from my daughter-in-law. It took just a little longer to prepare than we anticipated but it turned out SO GOOD!

It definitely had a Louisiana-style seasoning with the ingredients we added but it also provided so much food for us. The shrimp were incredible and so were the crab legs. Personally, I liked the spicy sausage a lot, too.

You can pick a clamshell pot that includes a half dozen clams or mussels or a “Ben Franklin” that includes a half dozen clams or mussels along with one cluster of snow crab.

The classic is $24.99 per person while the Ben Franklin is 38.99. Or you could upgrade to a Maine-Lander that includes a Main lobster tail along with clams/mussels for $45.99 or the Overboard for $56.99 that tosses in a half dozen clams or mussels, snow crab, quarter pound of scallops and a lobster tail.

If you happen to have a non-seafood lover, there is North Carolina BBQ available. You can also add coleslaw and/or cornbread muffins.

There are also catering options available with the pots brought to you for an event.

This was just a different way to enjoy seafood at the beach in a family atmosphere without cutting into beach time or worrying about getting a table at a restaurant at peak time. You place the order to be picked up when you want and there’s no doubt I’ll be doing this again in the fall.
