The Hopkins County Central Lady Storm’s bid for a Kentucky Class 2A sectional title came to a tough end Tuesday evening. After having their backs against the wall, the Lady Storm rallied to even the match, only to drop the deciding fifth set as they fell to the Murray Lady Tigers three sets to two at Webster County High School.

For a while, it looked as if it would be a short night. Murray took the first two sets 25-17 and 25-19.

Backed into a corner, Hopkins County Central came ‘storming’ right back. The Lady Storm took the third set 25-20 and then won the fourth set 25-18 to tie the match at two sets each and force the deciding fifth set.

But Murray was able to overcome the momentum that was on the Lady Storm side of the net and the Lady Tigers would take the match by winning the final set 15-9.

Coach Greg Wagoner had high praise for his team stating he thought that the performance was his team’s best of the year.

Aalycia Stringer had 13 kills, 4 blocks, 4 digs to lead the Lady Storm. Mallory Wagoner ended up with 4 Aces, 12 Kills, 6 digs.

Izzy Hight also had an outstanding match with 40 assists, 3 aces, and 7 digs.

The loss drops Hopkins County Central to 6-3 on the season. They are set to be off until next Tuesday when they go to Calhoun to take on McLean County.
