Roldon Timothy drove in four runs, starting pitcher Tanner Hall struck out 11 batters in five innings, and the Northwest High School baseball team defeated Fort Campbell 13-8 on Tuesday in Clarksville, Tennessee.

After Michael Anderson started the game with a single and eventually came around to score in the top of the first inning, staking the Falcons to an early lead, the Vikings (5-2) answered with a Hunter Swanson RBI single in the bottom half, before scoring twice more in the second inning and seven in the third to build a 10-1 advantage.

Swanson, Timothy and Cross Newman combined to go 5-for-8 with eight RBIs and three runs scored, pacing Northwest to victory. Andres Garcia (three runs) and Nathaniel McEwen (two runs) each walked twice, while Bricen Moore finished 1-for-2 with two walks, a run and an RBI atop the NHS order.

Fort Campbell, which fell for the 11th time in its first 12 games of the year, did manage to score three runs in the fourth inning and struck for four more in its final at bat, but could not overcome the early deficit. Anderson (0-3) struck out three during the Falcon start, but allowed four hits, three runs and two walks in two innings on the bump.

FCHS was led offensively by Ryan Brewer, who went 2-for-3 with a run, two RBIs and a walk. Tyler Hansen scored twice and drew two of seven Fort Campbell free passes. Noah Herron was 1-for-3 with a run scored. That was about it, though, as Hall asserted his dominance. He did walk five but K’d 11, allowed just two hits and gave up three earned runs in the start. Viking pitchers combined to strike out 15 Falcons in seven innings.

Fort Campbell (1-11) will continue its season-long road trip at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at 8th District foe Heritage Christian Academy. It’s the first of two meetings between the Falcons and Warriors, with the other set for May 7. FCHS (0-4) and HCA (0-2) are currently winless in district matchups this season.
