Kentucky coach Mark Stoops said a “lot of things” factor into adding more players from the transfer portal after UK’s Blue-White Game Saturday but did admit he needed a “few” current players to transfer to maintain the 85-scholarship limit.

“If I want to gain something I gotta lose a few, you know what I mean?” Stoops said.

He gained another player Monday when junior college lineman Anfernee Crease of Navarro College in Texas flipped his commitment from SMU to Kentucky.

He is a big body that UK offensive line coach Eric Wolford obviously wanted to add to bolster UK’s offensive line depth who has three years of eligibility remaining. The 6-8, 310-pound.

Crease, who visited UK last weekend for the Blue-White Game, also had offers from Houston, Syracuse, Central Florida, Oregon State, Colorado, Western Kentucky, South Florida and Akron despite not being ranked in the 2024 class.

  1. Hes a big body lineman. I expect him to learn behind the Veterans this year and look for a starting job next year.
