Allie Holt has an infectious smile and an impeccable work ethic.

The Lyon County senior has an outgoing personality that will benefit her well as she embarks on her college career with a projected path in public relations.

Holt just wrapped up her second season on the Lyon County cheerleading squad and moved from there straight into the spring tennis season.

Her two seasons as a cheerleader came at the perfect time – two region championships for the boys’ basketball team and the school’s first state championship last month.

“It’s really a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. It has been a blast and a blessing getting to spend it with these girls,” Allie said. “These girls are amazing and we’ve really made some great memories.”

A late bloomer for cheer, Allie has left a big impression on her coach.

“She hasn’t cheered her entire career, but having her on the squad has been so valuable,” coach Natasha Cook said. “She wasn’t the type that thought she wanted to do cheer, but she went out of her comfort zone and it looks like she has cheered forever.”

Off the court, Allie is pulling down all A’s in high school and in her dual credit classes at WKCTC.

Last summer, she spent the summer at Murray State University in the Governor’s Scholars Program.

“I did a focus area with journalism and mass media which really helped me focus in on my major for college – public relations,” she said. “It also helped me make better connections, form a better bond with my community, and focus on my leadership skills.”

In addition to cheering and tennis, Allie is president of the Lyon County High School Beta Club, a reporter for the FBLA club, and the state vice-president of finance for the school’s Family, Career and Community Leaders of America Club.

She competed in the international FBLA  competition for Intuit Innovation.

“We competed against people in New Zealand, Canada, and the U.S., and I was one of the top finalists.”

She said her FCCLA club has allowed her to give back to the community in a way that matters through their military donations and Ronald McDonald House Charities work.

Allie said her work in marketing comes from the influence of her teacher Dannette Baker.

“She came here my sophomore year and has really helped me sprout in being a leader and being active in my community.”

Allie plans to go to Eastern Kentucky University and attend their honors program, seeking a future in public relations, social media, and marketing.

According to her coach, she’s already off to a good start.

“Allie’s the one that we rely on whenever we need social media posts,” Cook said. “She’s very active with technology and I think going to help her in the future.”
