Two Caldwell County matmen have announced that they will continue wrestling at Kentucky Wesleyan College in Owensboro.

Caldwell seniors Cole Sherill and Cofy Walls announced Tuesday on social media that they will wrestle for the Panthers.

Walls placed third at 138 pounds at the KHSAA State Wrestling Championships in February.

Meanwhile, Sherill qualified for the state tournament as well at 215 pounds, but suffered a shoulder injury in his second match and was unable to continue.

Walls and Sherill will be the first Tigers to wrestle collegiately since John Mark Hutcheson wrestled at the College of Mount St. Joseph in Cincinnati from 1996-2000.

Kentucky Wesleyan started its wrestling program in the 2018-19 academic year.

Kentucky Wesleyan is an NCAA Div. II school which competes in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference.
