Miss Basketball Trinity Rowe of Pikeville will not be playing in the BSN Ohio-Kentucky All-Star Game Saturday night at Thomas More College after all.

The Southern Mississippi signee was looking forward to being at Slam-Jam Festival Friday night and then playing the all-star game Saturday. However, she found out late Tuesday night that she was being honored at Hillbilly Days in Pikeville Saturday and felt like she could not miss that opportunity.

“Hillbilly Days is really a big deal here and they are making a special float for me and everything,” Rowe said Wednesday. “I would rather be playing basketball but this is so big for our community that school is out Thursday and Friday and they are really going all out to honor me. I just felt like I could not say no to go play basketball.”

It will be her first time to attend Hillbilly Days on Saturday because she normally has been playing AAU basketball on the same weekend the festival is being held.

“I hate not being able to play and was really looking forward to it,” Rowe said.

She is expecting to play in the Kentucky-Indiana series in June.

“I am not sure about the scrimmages leading up to the games because my college coaches want me down there,” Rowe said. “However, I think I have it figured out so I can play in the games on the 7th and 8th (of June) and hopefully nothing will happen to change that.”
