After suffering back-to-back losses for the first time all season, Caldwell County bounced back in a big way Monday at Crittenden County.

The Tigers scored 11 runs in the top of the fourth inning on the way to a 14-1 win over the Rockets in five innings.

Channing Puckett held Crittenden to just four base hits in the contest. He allowed just one unearned run while striking out eight and walking one.

Meanwhile, the Tigers pounded out 17 base hits to back him.

Cole Slone was 3-for-4 and knocked in four runs while Collin Whittington went 3-for-4 and drove in three.

Luke Parker and Ari Wells were each 2-for-3 while Puckett and Drew Stevens were both 2-for-4.

Caldwell scored two runs in the top of the first inning, getting a sacrifice fly to left from Westin King and an RBI single from Slone to go up 2-0.

Slone singled home another run in the third to make it 3-0.

Caldwell then put together its big fourth inning — all with two outs.

The Tigers recorded eight straight singles after the first two hitters in the inning were retired. A walk, a hit batter, then two more singles helped Caldwell extend its lead to 14-0.

The Tigers sent 15 men to the plate in the big frame.

It’s just the 11th time in school history the Tigers have scored 11 runs or more in an inning. One of those came earlier this season when Caldwell scored 13 runs in the second inning of a 19-0 win over Dawson Springs.

Last season, the Tigers had a 14-run seventh inning in a 16-12 triumph over Crittenden in the 2nd Region All A Classic championship game.

Caldwell is now 17-6 while Crittenden fell to 12-8.

The Tigers have now beaten the Rockets four straight times. Caldwell leads the all-time series 84-24.

Caldwell had lost its last two outings — 3-1 to Marshall County on Saturday and 5-4 to University Heights last Tuesday.

The Tigers are off until Thursday when they will host Paducah St. Mary.
