Sweet 16: Wildcats Continue Diamond Streak Against Falcons

Trigg County’s win streak over Fort Campbell can now legally drive.

The Wildcats beat the Falcons 10-4 Monday in Cadiz, stretching its win streak in the series to 16 games dating back to 2005.

Trigg sophomore Jon Humphries had two hits and drove in four runs, two coming on a double in the first inning.

Haydon Reynolds also had a pair of hits and Bentley Reynolds, moved into the No. 2 spot in the Wildcat lineup, drove in two runs.

Fort Campbell scored two runs in the first inning when Thomas Roach doubled home a run and scored on a Tyler Hansen groundout.

The Wildcats answered with three in the home half of the first with two scoring on Humphries’ second double of the season.

After Fort Campbell took a 4-3 lead in the third inning when Adam Harrington doubled home a pair of runs.

Trigg County scored five times in the fourth inning. An error on a sacrifice bunt by Nate Simmons plated two Wildcats. A groundout and an error scored two more runs and Humphries followed with an RBI single.

Trigg added a pair of insurance runs in the sixth inning on a groundout and a sacrifice fly by Humphries.

Trigg outhit Fort Campbell 8-2. Both of the Falcon hits were doubles by Harrington and Roach.

Aaden Allen (2-0) got four outs to get the win, striking out one and allowing no hits.

Lance Breckel pitched the final three innings of scoreless baseball to get his first save.

Fort Campbell (3-18) has played every game on the road this season while their field on post is being renovated and new turf installed. The Falcons will visit Hopkins County Central on Tuesday.

Trigg County (7-8) will host Livingston Central for Senior Night on Thursday.
