Trigg County’s girls moved above .500 this season and ended a seven-game losing skid against Caldwell County on Tuesday.

The Lady Wildcats are now 12-11 after picking up a 9-4 victory over the Lady Tigers — just Trigg’s second win ever in Princeton.

Kady Fuller was 2-for-4 with a home run while Rylee Hendricks was 2-for-3 with a double and Makenna Hendricks finished 2-for-4. Each had an RBI as the Lady Wildcats beat Caldwell for the first time in nearly eight years.

Tember Oliver (11-8) picked up the win in the pitching circle. She struck out eight, but pitched around 14 base hits, two walks and a hit batter.

Meanwhile, Caldwell (11-11) has lost seven of its last eight games after starting the season 10-4.

The Lady Tigers were hampered by five errors on defense and 14 runners left on base on offense against Trigg.

Just four of the Lady Wildcats’ nine runs in the contest were earned.

Caldwell led 3-2 after one inning, but managed just one run the rest of the day despite having baserunners every inning.

Trigg tied the game on Fuller’s solo home run to left in the top of the third inning.

Makenna Hendricks singled home a run and later scored on an error in the fifth inning as the Lady Wildcats went up 5-3.

Rylee Hendricks had an RBI single in the sixth to make it 6-3.

Trigg then added three important insurance runs in the seventh. A sacrifice fly to right by Maddie Smith made it 7-3. Veyda Grinols then singled home two more runs to extend the margin to 9-3.

That proved crucial when Caldwell loaded the bases with one out in the bottom of the seventh. A sacrifice fly to right by Alicia Stanley made it 9-4. But another fly out to right ended the game.

Four players accounted for 12 of the Lady Tigers’ 14 base hits.

Alexis Wood, Brylee Butts and Daelen Kizzee were each 3-for-4 while Adley Lewis went 3-for-5. Wood drove in two of Caldwell’s four runs.

The Lady Tigers still lead the all-time series 36-6.

Trigg has won three of its last four games. The Lady Wildcats visit 5th District foe Lyon County on Thursday.

Caldwell plays at home again on Thursday against Graves County.
