The Fort Campbell baseball team hit the road on Saturday in search of some hardware, facing off with hosts Fort Knox in a doubleheader for a chance to raise the Military World Series trophy.  A 15-1 victory in the opener gave the Falcons the title before the Eagles bounced back to take the second matchup 7-4.

Fort Campbell rode a strong performance on the mound by Michael Anderson, with the sophomore hurler allowing a single unearned run on five hits with four walks and six strikeouts.

The Falcons gave Anderson the lead in the top of the first before tacking on three runs in the third.  They closed the show with 11 runs over the final two frames against Fort Knox starter Joshua Fletcher.  Fletcher took the loss after giving up ten earned runs on 12 hits with four walks and a strikeout.

Anderson was 3/4 at the plate with an RBI, and Tyler Hansen collected two hits and drove in four runs.  Noah Herron finished 2/2 with two runs driven in, Marquell Hunt hit safely twice with an RBI, and Thomas Roach and Jeremiah Brewer drove in two runs each.

After banging out 12 hits in the opener, the Falcons were held to only four in the second game.  However, they took the lead with two runs in the top of the first before Fort Knox cut the deficit in half with a run in the bottom of the frame.

The Eagles took their first lead of the day with a pair of runs in their second at-bat and added a run in the third for a 4-2 advantage.  The Falcons rallied to tie the game in the fourth, but Fort Knox answered with two runs in the fifth to take the lead for good.

Kaiden Porter earned the win on the mound for Fort Knox, allowing four runs, two earned, on four hits with six strikeouts and four walks.  Eli Ortega and Evan Castenada each had two hits for the Eagles, and Castenada, Porter, and Fletcher drove in runs.

Herron suffered the loss for Fort Campbell, giving up four runs, only one earned, on six hits with five walks and seven strikeouts.  Roach worked the final frame, allowing three runs, two earned, on five walks with a strikeout.

Hansen, John Arnold, and Colton Ramos each drove in runs for the Falcons.

Fort Campbell now stands at 6-20 and has a week off before traveling to Ballard Memorial for a doubleheader on Saturday.
