Lady Colonels Pick Up Extra-Inning Road Win at Crittenden County

A two-run single from Gracie Harned with the bases loaded in the top of the 8th inning helped the Christian County Lady Colonels break open a tie game and go on to take an 8-6 extra-inning win over the Crittenden County Lady Rockets in Marion Thursday night.

Aaliyah Bell started off the eighth inning being placed on 2nd base and advanced to third on a ground out from Jayda Turner. Bell then scored on a single from Jordan Turner to give Christian County a 5-4 lead. Harned’ single would make it 7-4 with a Crittenden County error allowing another run to score, pushing the lead to 8-4.

The Lady Rockets did not go down without a fight, scoring two runs in the bottom of the 8th inning and then bringing the winning run to the plate with two outs. Gracie Harned then got Crittenden County to ground out to end the game and give the Lady Colonels the two-run win.

Avery Adcock continued her torrid hitting as of late. She led off the game with a home run to center and finished the night 3-4 with an RBI and four runs scored. Gracie Harned was 3-5 with two RBIs. Chloe Almy and Jayda Turner added two hits each.

Jordan Turner got the win in the circle, going 7 1/3 innings, giving up four runs on 8 hits, striking out seven and walking one.

Gracie Harned picked up the save, working 2/3 of an inning, giving up one run on two hits, and walking one.

Christian County improves to 15-11 with its third straight win. The Lady Colonels are back in action Friday night at the Owensboro Catholic Classic.
