Christian County did not look too far down the road to find their next boys’ basketball coach, in fact just to the other side of the lakes. After word started getting out late Thursday, officials at Christian County High School made it official Friday afternoon with the formal announcement of Dior Curtis as the next coach of the basketball Colonels.

Christian County Principal Kevin Crider made the official announcement.

Curtis comes to Christian County after a seven-year stint as the head man at Murray High School. During those seven years, Curtis’ teams went 142-72. His Tigers won five straight 1st Region All A Classic titles, reaching the state semifinals in 2020 and again this season.

His 2022 team at Murray won the 1st Region championship and advanced to the quarterfinal round of the Boys’ Sweet 16. They were knocked out of the tournament by state runner-up Warren Central. That season, Curtis was named the 1st Region ‘Coach of the Year.’

This year’s Murray team finished 24-10 and lost in the regional semifinals to McCracken County.

Curtis is a graduate of Kingsbury High School in Memphis, and attended Murray State University. His coaching career began in 2010 as an assistant coach with Murray High. He was named head coach of the Murray High Tigers in 2017.

Curtis replaces Toby Miles, who stepped down following the 2023-2024 season after four seasons as head coach of the Colonels.
