Lyon Athletes Fare Well at Caldwell Track Meet

Kayla Dunn was third in the discus and fourth in the shot put to highlight Lyon County’s day at Caldwell County’s seven-team track meet on Tuesday.

Dunn’s distance in the discus was 71 feet, 8 inches. Her throw in the shot was 26 feet, 11 inches.

Dunn also recorded a Top 10 finish in her first-ever 200-meter dash, placing eighth in a time of 33.64 seconds.

Chloe Gandee was seventh in the 200 at 33.38 seconds while Bella Baccus was ninth in 34.48 seconds.

Gandee finished 10th in the 100 dash in 15.76 seconds. She was also 10th in the shot put at 22 feet, 1.5 inches.

Eryn McDowell was eighth in the discus at 60 feet, 2 inches.

Baccus was 10th in the 400 dash in 1:28.81.

Kyndal Hubbard ran to a fourth-place showing in the 800-meter run in 2:59.15. Lindy Burchett was ninth in that event in 3:06.04.

The Lady Lyons placed fifth in both the 4×100-meter relay and the 4×200 relay.

Lyon’s girls totaled 32 points despite having just seven athletes on the team. The Lady Lyons placed sixth in the team standings.

Meanwhile, Lyon’s guys had 17 points and finished seventh.

Carter Bounds took fifth in the 1,600-meter run for the Lyons in a time of 5:18.26.

Ethan Gossard placed fifth in the 800 run in 2:29.24. Luis de Alamino-Carulla was eighth in that event 2:34.72.

The Lyon 4×800-meter relay team of Bounds, Gossard, Sean Weatherspoon and de Alamino-Carulla was fourth in 10:27.29. That’s the third-fastest time for the Lyon boys’ squad.

The 4×100 relay squad of Jordon Jackson, de Alamino-Carulla, Gossard and Boston Mullen was eighth in 53.96 seconds.

The 4×200 team of Jackson, Gossard, de Alamino-Carulla and Mullen was ninth in 1:52.26.

Caldwell County won both team competitions. Mayfield was runner-up for the girls while Webster County took second for the boys.
