On Thursday, the Heritage Christian Academy baseball team bounced back from a KCAC State Championship game loss with a 13-2 victory over hosts Dawson Springs.  Jayden Nichols led the way at the plate and on the mound, collecting three hits and striking out ten on the way to his third win of the season.

RBI triples by Ethan Miles and Caden Gresham highlighted an eight-run first, before a run-scoring triple and Aiden Crook’s RBI single in the bottom of the inning accounted for Dawson Springs’ only runs of the night.

The RBI triple parade continued with Tycen Wells’ three-bagger in the top of the second for a 10-2 Heritage advantage, and Nichols doubled in a pair of runs in the top of the third to stretch the margin to ten.

After a scoreless fourth, the Warriors tacked on a run in the fifth before Nichols closed out the win with three strikeouts in the bottom of the frame.  He allowed only five hits and didn’t issue a walk to the Panthers.

Gresham finished with three hits, and Miles and Bradley Boyd each hit safely twice and drove in a pair of runs.

Micah Washburn took the loss for Dawson Springs, surrendering ten earned runs on 11 hits with five walks and four strikeouts.

HCA improved to 8-14 ahead of an 8th-District doubleheader at Hopkinsville on Friday.
